Great web site! I am both a guitar and motorsport enthusiast. I have for sale a 23 year collection of Road & Track Magazine (complete), with assorted earlier issues. Many extras (including a custom-made wooden storage box) are included. I will sell outright or trade for a clean American Tele, or toward a clean newer Les Paul. Thanks again for the wonderful web site.

As a beginning guitarist, I find this site to be a valuable source
of information with regard to guitars, maintenance, and the individual
qualities of specific brands of electric and acoustic guitars.
My short term goal is to be able to passably play
a blues tune ( ie. I,V,IV) and be able to add some technically
elementary but pithy, angular fills and/or leads in and over the bluses chords.
If anyone out there has any suggestions as to how to reach this
goal feel free to e-mail me. I've been playing for two months
now and am taking lessons weekly. Ihave a good theory back-
ground and have played the drums for 30 years. I have been
able to learn a number of chords so far, including the so-called
"portable" ones. Unfortunately, actually executing clean
barre chords so far has been difficult.
Also, I am looking for some advice on what would make an
appropriate purchase for a first electric guitar. I want to buy one whch
I won't grow out of as I progress technically. Secondly, I
would like to buy an alectric that would be good for blues , rock, and jazz. Is
there such a versatile animal out there? Third, is if any one aout there
has personal opinions about the relative sound qualities of
a Strat, versus a Telecaster, Epiphone, Les Paul, etc. for
my purposes , please let me know. Finally, my approximate
price range for an electric is 650.00. Currently I have been
learning on a mid-price (370.00) Ibanez acoustic dreadnought.

Amazing web site!

The wide range of links is incredible. I have found more interesting stuff on acoutic guitars in two visits, than in the previous several hours of roaming the Web.

Suggestion: When someone clicks on *more links*, etc. how about changing the background color. I was getting confused because of your huge number of links.

I will visit often.

Thanks for having a cool site, that can even be found by ncsa mosaic, which, ssssssuuuuuuuucccccckkkkkksssss!!!!
Anyway, we're a goofy folk band that got to play here once. We've been through alot, and I even more so. We formed up around Feb. 96. It's been myself, and the brothers Palmer. I play lead, Jayson Palmer's on ryth. and Abe Palmer's on bass. Now however, things are changing. Jayson's undertaking FAMILY responsabilities(death to any band!), Abe doesn't even know if he's going to go on with me, but we're going in the studio to mess around, while we can BE around, Dec. 28'th. They say no matter what happens, I can go on with the name. At least after ten years at this, I ended up with a decent band name! Anyway, we'll be sending a single to iuma of a tune I wrote, and one Jayson wrote, and whatever band I get to stay in, I'll keep writting, and leave some kind of mark on this culture, even if it kills me while I'm trying! Have a cool one bro's. Matty over the Horizon

I have a question that I hope you can answer...I'd like to learn to play guitar...what's the best way to get started? Will it be easier to buy some books and teach myself, or to take lessons? Someone suggested to me that I should learn right-handed even though I hold the guitar the left-handed way...it's more comfortable...what do you think?

Does anyone have any information on the guitarist,Tommy Garrett and his band called THE 50 GUITARS OF TOMMY GARRETT carried on LIBERTY PREMIERE RECORDS back in the 1970's? Is his music available on CD's or cassetes and where? Would appreciate any help.

keep up the good work!!! we are a towering minority and if it were not for individuals like yourselves feeding us raw info so that we might turn it into something of value, then you may as well pile up all the hardware and software and burn it as a source of heat on a frigid night, for it's the people behind the machines that make this all worthwhile and not the technology itself. hey! don't ever change! you not only make a lot of people happy, but you help shape the future of the art. thanks, sam

I think you should put in a link for "aboslute totally beginner dumb question basics". My dad is going crazy because he can't remember which fret to tune to, and if he doesn't put the sick-sounding thing down soon I'm going to smash it over his head. So, in conclusion I think it would be a good idea to put in a link somewhere of info for someone who's got a guitar but not the slightest idea how to play or tune. Thanks!

About a year or so ago, on TV there was a documentary about a young
and extraordinarily talented young man named Joe Buonapassa. I may
have spelt his name incorrectly.....he was taught by his Dad in his formative years,
but became too skilful to be taught by anyone as he got older -
he practised for hours each day. Apparently his peers were incredibly
impressed, and spoke highly of him. What ever became of Joe?
Did he make an album? Has he toured? Please, any information would
be most welcome...

John Cipollina was the classic San Francisco electric guitar player.
Starting with 60’s rock icons Quicksilver Messenger Service, he played
his signature style of rock , blues and jazz for 25 years until his untimely passing in 1989. Your visit to this tribute site celebrates a unique man and his legendary musical gift.

I am very interested in biographical and recording information about Jorge Morel. I have been seeking a copy of his recording of Rhapsody in Blue for 10 years mentioned in the list of essential recordings. Do you still have a copy? How can I get a cassette version of the album from you? I heard it 10 years ago on the radio. It was an incredible recording. The station would not make a copy for me and would not part with the recording. .

Excellent Page! My compliments to designer and to whomever put
all the hard work into it.
I am a full-time ukulele maker specializing in 4-,6-, & 8
string tenor and 4-string baritone ukuleles. They are made of
figured or curly koa wood with ebony fretboard, bridge & nut.
Beautiful woods, mostly recycled from slash piles... a wonderful
way to spend the day in a forested mountains of Hawaii.
After nearly 12 years and ca. 400 ukuleles, I'm on to making
a few guitars each year; redwood tops, koa back & sides with
the intent of having it mostly for slack key players here in
Hawaii. I hope to have a proper home page by late spring '96.

I've playing guitar now for 6 years and I enjoy more than anything a great acoustic sound. I first started w/ an old, beat up,pawn shop flat top. Then I bought an Ibanez electric which I enjoyed but it didn't have the heart of an acoustic so I traded it in for a beautiful flat top. There's nothing like the sound echoing through asound hole. It's so pure you can almost feel the roots behind it don't you think?

It is great to see you have info on many great Christian
musicians here. That kind of info, especially guitar
centered, is hard to come by.

I've been playing harmonica for about 6 years and finally got tired of waiting for the band to play something that I can play with, so picked up the guitar finally. I just wanted to let you know that you've been a huge help in my progression, and I'm very thankful.

As a beginning guitarist/musician and dedicated nethead, I
find your site to be a treasure trove of links. However, two
suggestions:
1. Update some links or keep them plain text. Some such as
the Price guide and the Care guide go nowhere.
2. Many of us are limited to 8 mb of RAM with less for our
browsers. I have yet been unable to load your entire page--even
with an increased memory partition. Could you change your
graphical buttons to plain text bullets? That would help
reduce the size of your page.
