Albert Lee Type Licks
by Christopher Sung

One of the reasons why this lick sounds so great is that it completely reflects the chord changes from E7 to A7 and back to E7. Each time we're on the E7, we hammer the open G string to G#, which is the major 3rd of the E7. This gives the line a very strong E major feeling at the start, and again when we return in measure 4. The pull-off from the D to the C# in measure 2 implies the A chord really strongly as well.
