Eric Johnson-type Licks
by Christopher Sung

Another interesting aspect of Eric's playing is the way he mixes triplets and sixteenth notes, often within the same measure or phrase. In this example, he shifts effortlessly between the two throughout the line. Although primarily composed of eighth note triplets, he uses 16th note figures at the end of measure 2, and the second beat of measure 3. Like the previous example, this lick draws mostly from the E blues scale, with an F# thrown in at the start.
