Review for: DeArmond X-155
Made in 1999
Purchase price of 700 USD in 10/1999
Rating: 5.0
Comments:This relatively inexpensive hollow body electric (based on the Guild X-170) is a steal for the price. It plays so easily, like a much more expensive instrument, and sounds great (I have a Fender Blues Junior tube amp, but it sounds good through other solid state amps as well). THe neck is not too thick, and the fingerboard/frets are very smooth. The DeArmond pickups are great; a vintage sound that can mimic a Gretsch hollow body, but can also get great warm jazz tones. Amazing versatility and workmanship for the price; anyone who wants a hollow electric and doesn't have $2000 to spend can be assured of getting an excellent instrument with this. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
