Review for: Taylor 855 12-String
Purchase price of 1951 USD
Rating: 4.0
Comments:I've been playing for over 2 decades from classical to hard rock. I have nine guitars of all types (strat, Martin 000-18, Seagull, Ovation classical, etc). I play for fun alone and with my friends and havn't gigged in a long time. I write much of what I play. This was a good buy. I don't think I could have done much better with a 12-string but, again, I didn't get to try the Martin. If I make it sound like there are only two high-end guitar companies then you understand my opinion; I put those two above all others. I got this instead of the less expensive Taylor 555 because I wanted the rosewood back and sides (more bass response with the lighter strings found on 12-string instruments). The way Taylor has configured its product line you have to buy both rosewood AND fancy styling. I wanted the former and not the latter. Overall, I love this guitar. It has the sound that I want. It has lots of fancy styling which I don't want (but others might) which I think will detract from its durability. This is an excellent instrument and well worth the money. If it were lost or stolen I would again try to find a D 28-12 with which to compare but I might very well end up with this Taylor again. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
