Review for: | Bill Lawrence XL500 Purchase price of N/A used |
Rating: | 3.0 |
Comments: | I'm using a Jackson RR1 running into a Laney AOR Pro Tube Lead head, and a Carvin 4X12 cab. For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I wouldn't use this pickup again. I want a GOOD tone, not just a LOUD one. It does make a good "teenager metal" pickup though. If all you want is a lot of muddy gain to create a death metal, grunge sound, you'd probably love this pickup. BUT, if you're a mature metal player(no oxy-moron intended) you probably won't care for this one. I personaly think a Seymour Duncan JB, or a Dimarzio Tone Zone are the best all around metal pickups made for the bridge. I do however like this pickup in the neck posistion. It ha a warm, hot, violin type sustain in the neck position. This is a good pickup, just not my choice for a well defined high gain sound. |
