electric amps
Review for: Rivera K-55 Knucklehead
Made in 1995
Purchase price of 800 USD
Rating: 5.0
Comments:I've been playing for about 6 years. My rig goes guitar>EB volume pedal>Thomas Organ Wah> K-head 55....then in the effects loop, I run a Boss ME-10 multi-effects unit. All of this goes through a Carvin 4x12. I'd never lose this amp, and if somebody stole it, I'd castrate them with a butter knife. I would definitely own another one in the event something happened to this one. I have tried other amps in this price range like Soldano, VHT, Boogie etc. As far as I am concerned, this head has any of the tones those amps can make, and is generally more "user friendly". By this, I mean it is easier to get cool tones from it than say a Boogie(too many push/pulls), but the controls do more than the ones on something like a Hot Rod 50 or a Pittbull. Changing a pot one number on the Rivera makes a notable difference. The amp requires some patience as far as finding tones initially, but I promise they are in there. The amp is extremely versatile, yet relatively simple.
